Morcen Ojwok Omot is a distinguished political leader, renowned as the president and founder of the United Paanywaa Movement (UPM). His journey began as a business administrator, but his diverse career includes service as a soldier and teacher before he entered politics. Morcen’s dedication to his community was evident during his tenure as the Secretary-General of the Gambela Democratic Movement (GDM), where he advocated for the rights and representation of his people.

Morcen is married to Uki and is a proud father of five children: Maro, Akera, Nutajuok, Grace, and Jwokbabayi. He is deeply committed to addressing the historical marginalization of the Anyuak people and believes that the reunification of Paanywaa is essential for achieving modernization and safety for his community.

The UPM, under Morcen’s leadership, is fueled by a vision to create a strong, prosperous, and secure Paanywaa, free from oppression and injustice.  The movement’s mission focuses on the independence, safety, and security of its constituents.

– Modernization: Morcen envisions modernizing various aspects of society, including political procedures, economic systems, agricultural practices, infrastructure, and defense forces, as well as establishing beneficial relationships with foreign entities.
