Economic program

1. UPM shall play an essential role in the economy, both in short- and long-term economic management and in establishing a frame of rules that enhance stability, fairness, and certainty to improve the people’s lives of Paanywaa. They were/have been denied access to economic opportunity. We believe in the mixt economy with some intervention from the Government and the free market.

2. UPM encourages investors to work in Paanywaa. However, investments should be carried out reasonably so that the lives of the indigenous people, the beauty of nature, environmental aspects, animals, and their habitats are not affected and destroyed.

3. The people of Paanywaa were/are denied their economic rights. They were/are not informed and involved in the decision-making process regarding the so-called economic development and investment being undertaken in the Region. They were/are considered second-class citizens in both countries. Therefore, UPM will ensure that Paanywaa people are part of any economic development, consulted, and involved in the decision-making process to build a society where no one is left to live in poverty.

4. UPM believes that through sustainable development, natural and human resources are utilized to ensure that all people of Paanywaa enjoy a reasonable standard of living, enough to enable them and their families to live with dignity, peace, and respect.

5.   UPM will promote sustainable economic development to build self-reliance so that every Paanywaa citizen can pursue a livelihood.

6. UPM will end any economic development and investment that does not consider the people’s best interest of Paanywaa and promotes sustainable economic growth for all citizens.

7. UPM believes that for any development and investment in Paanywaa, a thorough environmental impact assessment should be conducted to ensure that local communities’ socio-economic, cultural, ecological, and political settings are not affected.

8. The people of Paanywaa farming system should be transformed from subsistence traditional agricultural farming to a market-oriented sustainable farming system. Therefore, UPM is committed to developing and improving infrastructure and farming inputs to ensure that the Paanywaa people actively participate in national economic development.

9. Farming and small businesses are the decisive driving forces in building the national economy.  UPM encourages and assists these economic sectors in contributing to national economic development and being competent in a free-market economy. UPM supports efforts made/ being made to establish regional and global economic relations and cooperation among states to fight poverty, natural disasters, and inflation.
