Social program

1. The people of Paanywaa were/are intentionally kept out of education for so long, having little opportunity to attend higher educational institutions. Besides, the education system in Paanywaa was/is not workforce-driven. UPM views education as one of the keys to delivering social justice and equal opportunity. Therefore, we value free and quality public education for children to produce a quality skilled workforce and prepare a new generation for the jobs and the world of tomorrow.

2. Our future depends on the ability to tackle the long-term health challenges we faced/ face under the brutal and discriminatory Ethiopian and South Sudan regimes.   UPM is committed to a health system that protects, maintains, and improves the living standards of all people of Paanywaa.

3. We believe that investing in the health system to create services fit for all Paanywaa people is a way to reduce the high mortality rate, boost productivity, and improve workplace participation to build a stable and competent national economy.

4. One of the damages done to the people of Paanywaa was the destruction of their cultures, language, traditions, and values, which forced them out of land and social institutions that kept them together peacefully for years. At the same time, the current governments made them lose their identity and tried to assimilate them with refugees. UPM is committed to restoring our social identity and maintaining our traditions, cultures, and values.

5. In all social, economic, and political aspects, UPM fights against gender inequality and discrimination to ensure that both men and women have equal rights and opportunities to participate in any social activities, including defense activities.

6. UPM will ensure that the people of Paanyuaa enjoy the right to vote and to be elected, the right to access to justice, property right, the right to labor, the right to development, the freedom of association, the right to assembly, demonstration, petition, and expression.

7. UPM will give due attention to assisting and rehabilitating marginalized and vulnerable people such as widows, orphans, the aged, disabled, and people in need to ensure that they are protected by providing welfare and social services to meet their physical and welfare needs.

8. Malaria, HIV/AIDS, and waterborne diseases are among the significant health problems of the people of Paanywaa. Most majority of people do not have access to clean water. Also, malaria is one of the major killer diseases in Paanywaa. To maintain a healthy and strong nation, UPM is committed to encouraging partnerships between the state, donors, and the international community to provide integrated essential health and clean water programs to the people of Paanywaa.

9. Unemployment is a big problem in Paanywaa. The interest of Ethiopian and South Sudan regimes was/is not to create job opportunities but to keep the people of Paanywaa in poverty, exposed to diseases and malnutrition, so they could be eliminated.    To address unemployment issues, UPM will have operational and community-driven labor force policies and strategies to ensure that employment is available and everyone has something to do for their living.
